Pilot Anglers Take Home Top Prize at Sam Rayburn Reservoir

Nacogdoches, Texas—The Pilot fishing team got their season off to a great start Friday as they had three boats all place within the Top 25 at the Major League Fishing (MLF) College Big Five Tournament. The Pilots, currently ranked number six in the nation in the MLF, finished 1st, 21st, and 24th on the Sam Rayburn Reservoir with Brayden Nichols and William Tew coming out victorious at the top of the tournament wrangling 22lbs of fish. The Pilots set out Friday morning at seven am and reeled in some good fish placing them in the top half of 200 boats. Trip Bowman and Matthew Nesbit finished in the 21st slot while Levi Thibodaux and Chance Shelby came in at 24. "We have some very strong anglers," head coach Charles Thompson said, "It's a good feeling and a good finish, so happy about that." 

The Pilots currently hold 1603 points in the MLF just 15 points shy of the fifth-place spot. The Pilot anglers will be back on the water Saturday and Sunday September 23rd and 24th as they take on the fish of Kentucky Lake in the ACA 2-Day College Tournament.
