LSUS Pilots Dominate NAIA World Series Honors; City Celebration Set for June 2

SHREVEPORT, La. -- Five LSU Shreveport Pilots baseball players have been named to the 2025 Avista NAIA World Series All-Tournament Team following an outstanding performance on the national stage. Third baseman Josh Gibson, catcher Diego Aragon, outfielder Ian Montz, and pitchers Isaac Rohde and Draven Zeigler each earned postseason honors after helping lead the Pilots to a dominant showing at the championship tournament. In addition, LSUS swept the individual superlatives, with Rohde taking home Most Valuable Player honors, Cooper Huspen earning the Hustle Award, and Jose Sallorin capturing the Gold Glove Award.
Gibson (3B) anchored the Pilots' infield with a sterling .948 fielding percentage while pacing the lineup with 71 RBIs. At the plate, he compiled a .439 batting average, .534 on-base percentage, and .693 slugging percentage. His consistency and power provided a dependable middle-of-the-order presence all season long.
Behind the plate, Aragon (C) posted a .346 batting average, .476 on-base percentage, and .632 slugging percentage, driving in 46 runs. Defensively, he was nearly flawless, finishing with a .995 fielding percentage. His leadership and pitch-framing were instrumental in guiding the Pilots' pitching staff throughout the year.
In the outfield, Montz (OF) contributed a .304 batting average, .473 on-base percentage, .587 slugging percentage, and 31 RBIs. His ability to stretch defense into extra outs and ignite rallies with timely hits proved vital during the postseason.
On the mound, Rohde (Pitcher) completed an undefeated 16-0 record, registering a 2.09 ERA and 0.93 WHIP over 120 innings. He struck out 107 batters, averaging 10.92 strikeouts per nine innings, and stifled opposing lineups with a combination of precision and power. For his efforts, Rohde was named MVP of the Avista NAIA World Series, underscoring his role as the staff ace.
Joining Rohde on the rubber, Zeigler (Pitcher) showcased a devastating pitch combinations that baffled hitters throughout the tournament. His timely relief appearances and clutch shutout innings earned him a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Zeigler finished the season with a 13-0 record, 1.76 ERA, and .93 WHIP, recording 107 strikeouts, and 11.07 k/9.
LSUS also dominated the individual superlatives:

Isaac Rohde – MVP of the Avista NAIA World Series with a perfect 16-0 record, 2.09 ERA, .93 WHIP, 107 strikeouts, and a 10.92 K/9 ratio.

Cooper Huspen – Hustle Award recipient after posting a .533 batting average, .633 on-base percentage, .913 slugging percentage, and scoring 50 runs.

Jose Sallorin – Gold Glove Award winner, finishing with a .980 fielding percentage. Offensively, he batted .335, reached base at a .473 clip, slugged .471, and drove in 56 runs.
To celebrate the team's outstanding season and national success, the City of Shreveport will host a city-wide celebration on Monday, June 2, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Festival Plaza in downtown Shreveport. Fans, families, and community members are invited to join in the festivities, which will feature food, music, and an opportunity to honor the Pilots for their championship-caliber achievements.
