LSUS Sweeps UHV in Doubleheader, Clinches RRAC Title and Breaks NAIA Win Streak Record

SHREVEPORT, La. — LSU Shreveport opened Senior Weekend with a historic doubleheader sweep of the University of Houston-Victoria on Friday afternoon at Pilot Field, capturing their fourth consecutive Red River Athletic Conference Regular Season Championship and securing the longest win streak in NAIA baseball history.

The No. 1-ranked Pilots (47-3, 26-0 RRAC) extended their winning streak to 43 games — surpassing Point Park University's previous record of 41 — with dominant 11-1 and 11-3 victories over the Jaguars.

In the opener, Isaac Rohde (11-0) remained perfect on the mound, tossing 6.2 strong innings while scattering five hits and allowing just one run. The LSUS offense exploded behind home runs from Austin Gomm and Jackson Syring. Gomm drove in five runs, Syring added three RBIs, and Ian Montz chipped in with two. Josh Gibson doubled twice and added a stolen base, while Anthony Swenda and Jose Sallorin also contributed on the base paths. UHV's lone run came off an RBI by Jose Montanez, with Hal Perez collecting a double. Brady Parker (7-2) took the loss for the Jaguars, surrendering eight runs in 3.1 innings.

Game two saw more of the same from the Pilots, who used another offensive surge to seal the sweep. Angel Rodriguez launched a home run and drove in four runs to lead the way. Gibson added a double and two RBIs, while Ryan Davenport also brought home two runs and swiped a base. Draven Zeigler improved to 10-0 on the year, allowing four hits and one run over five innings of work. UHV plated three runs in the contest, with RBIs from Kyle Barosh, Jackson Purcell, and Roberto Olguin. Jonathan Jones (8-2) was tagged with the loss, giving up 10 runs in 4.2 innings.

LSUS will close out Senior Weekend and the regular season Saturday at 1 p.m. against UHV, with senior student-athletes set to be honored before first pitch.
