SHREVEPORT, La. — No. 1 LSU Shreveport remained perfect on the season, sweeping a Friday doubleheader against Texas A&M University-Texarkana at Pilots Field. The Pilots (36-0, 20-0 Red River Athletic Conference) took the opener 6-4 before cruising to a 16-0 victory in Game 2.
In Game 1, LSUS built a 5-0 lead before TAMUT (24-13, 12-8 RRAC) rallied late. Vantrel Reed and Ryan Davenport each drove in two runs, while Diego Aragon added an RBI double. Isaac Rohde (9-0) earned the win, striking out six over six innings, while Lex Meinderts notched his fourth save. Conner Owens' two-run homer in the seventh for the Eagles wasn't enough to overcome the deficit.
Game 2 was all Pilots from the start, as LSUS erupted for 16 runs on 14 hits, including four home runs. Josh Gibson belted a three-run shot and finished with six RBIs, while Austin Gomm, Reed, and Ian Montz also homered. Draven Zeigler (8-0) was dominant, striking out 10 in a complete-game shutout, allowing just four hits.
The date and time of third game will be determined by the weather.
