LSU Shreveport Cruises Past Texas Wesleyan, 10-1

FORT WORTH, Texas — LSU Shreveport stayed undefeated with a dominant 10-1 win over Texas Wesleyan in a midday matchup on Tuesday, improving to 26-0 on the season.
The Pilots struck early and often, starting with a second-inning run when Austin Gomm scored on a balk to give LSUS a 1-0 lead.
LSUS extended its lead with a three-run third inning. Jackson Syring struck out swinging but reached first on a wild pitch, allowing Josh Gibson to score and Angel Rodriguez to advance to third. Vantrel Reed followed with an RBI single to left field, scoring Rodriguez. Gomm capped the inning with a single to left, plating Reed to make it 4-0.
The Pilots broke the game open with a four-run sixth. Anthony Swenda tripled to right field, scoring Gibson. Anthony Hampton added a sacrifice fly to right, bringing in Swenda. Gomm delivered the big blow with a two-run triple to center, scoring Reed and Carlos Vega to push the lead to 8-0.
Texas Wesleyan (21-10) got on the board in the bottom of the sixth when Brendon Vela tripled to center, driving in Brandon Rincones for the Rams' lone run.
LSUS tacked on two more in the seventh. Ryan Davenport scored on a double play, and Hampton singled to left, driving in Gibson for the final run.
Gomm capped off the day with three hits, including a pair of triples, and three RBI. Josh Miller picked up the win for the Pilots, striking out three over two scoreless innings. Jacob Guzman suffered the loss for Texas Wesleyan, allowing three hits and four runs (three earned) over 2 2/3 innings, with two walks and four strikeouts.
