Pilots Dominate Opening Day of Cajun Collision with Wins Over MACU and USAO

STERLINGTON, La. – The Louisiana State University Shreveport (LSUS) Pilots opened the Cajun Collision Baseball Tournament in dominant fashion on Friday, shutting out Mid-American Christian University (MACU) 5-0 in game one before powering past the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (USAO) 7-2 in the nightcap.

Game 1: LSUS 5, MACU 0

The Pilots (3-0) rode a stellar performance from right-hander Isaac Rohde (2-0), who tossed seven scoreless innings, allowing just one hit while striking out eight. Rohde's dominance set the tone as LSUS took control early and never looked back.

At the plate, Anthony Swenda led the charge, going 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Diego Aragon added a solo blast of his own, while Josh Gibson chipped in with an RBI single.

MACU's Carlos Medina recorded the only hit for the Evangels, who struggled against Rohde's command. Gabriel Dixon (0-1) took the loss for MACU, surrendering five runs on nine hits over six innings while striking out five.

Game 2: LSUS 7, USAO 2

LSUS kept rolling in the nightcap, fueled by a power surge from Jackson Syring, who went deep twice while driving in three runs. Syring's bat ignited the Pilots' offense, as they tagged USAO starter Kyler Denton (0-1) for seven runs on eight hits over four innings.

Ryan Davenport contributed with two hits, two runs, and an RBI, while Swenda and Deyven White each added an RBI in the win.

On the mound, Lex Meinderts (1-0) delivered a solid outing, working 4.2 innings while allowing two runs on four hits with five strikeouts. USAO's Ian Ortiz provided a bright spot for the Drovers, launching a solo home run in the loss.

With back-to-back victories, LSUS looks to stay hot as they continue Cajun Collision action on Saturday, facing Tabor College at 2:30 p.m. and Dakota State University at 6 p.m.
