Pilots Win Two on Elimination Day

Pilots Win Two on Elimination Day

Bossier City, La. - On Elimination Wednesday, the Pilots defeated Concordia (Neb.) and Talladega to keep their season alive. The two wins push the Pilots record to 44-10 and set them up for a championship chance to go to the World Series for the sixth time.

Pilot pitching was hot as the sun was beating down on the turf at Bossier Parish Community College. Draven Zeigler got the start in game one versus Concordia and was absolutely lights out. In 4.2 innings, he struck out 12 batters allowing just three runs. A combination of Lex Meinderts, Josh Fortenberry, and David Hankins would finish off the Bulldogs. Game two saw AJ Fritz start for the Pilots and we would 6.0 innings allowing just five runs. Chase Guitreau would get the save and close it out for LSUS. Austin Gomm would have another good day at plate hitting home runs in both games. Jose Aquino would deliver the knockout blow to Talladega with a grand slam in the ninth inning that still hasn't landed.

LSUS returns to Pilot Field at 9am for the Championship Game against Kansas Wesleyan. The Pilots must win two to punch their ticket to Lewiston.
