Pilots Stumble on Day 2

Pilots Stumble on Day 2

Sterlington, LA - Weather continued to play a factor in the Red River Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament pushing games back to 7pm on Day 2. In a winner's bracket matchup with Louisiana Christian, LSUS would lose 2-5. The loss moves the Pilots overall record to 40-8.

Isaac Rohde had another solid outing for the Pilots, going 6 innings allowing just five hits while striking out six. Unfortunately, the three runs he allowed were enough to give him his second loss on the season. LSUS's bats quieted from the night before and they would only score two runs, leaving 10 runners on base. Austin Gomm would continue his hot hitting going 2-2 with two walks. Ryan Davenport would score both runs for the Pilots, the first on a Vantrel Reed sac fly, and the second on a Josh Gibson double. The Pilots would hold onto a slim one run lead until the bottom of the fifth. Timley hitting by the Wildcats would give them a one run lead, and then a double to center field would score two more in the eighth putting the game out of reach.

LSUS will return to action on Saturday afternoon at 1pm to face the winner of the OLLU/USW game in an elimination game. The winner will play again at 5pm.
