Pilots Win Third Consecutive RRAC Title

Hawkins, TX - For the third consecutive season, the Pilots are the Red River Athletic Conference Regular Season Champions. It just took 15 innings for the Pilots to pick up two wins and hoist the trophy. Game one of the double header ended in a 9-3 win and game two finished 15-5. The Pilots currently have a five game lead in the conference with only the Texas College series remaining.
Game one saw the Pilots flex their muscles both figuratively and literally as Vantrel Reed and Jose Aquino would both go yard to start the game. LSUS would be facing one of the tougher pitchers this year in the RRAC, but you couldn't tell from their offensive production. Reed would follow up his and Aquino's homers with a two-run RBI single in the second inning to put the Pilots up 4-0. Aquino would again pound one out of the park in the sixth inning to score two and give him his second homer of the day. Josh Gibson would also drive in Cooper Huspen that inning extending the lead to 7-0. In the seventh Aquino would single driving in two more runs giving him his third hit and fifth RBI of the game. Jarvis would find a way to score a few runs late, but the Pilots would complete the seven inning game 9-3. Draven Zeigler would go 6.1 innings giving up just three runs on four hits while striking out six.

Game two was another slugfest for the Pilots. Riding the momentum from their championship clinching game one, LSUS would start game two with a monsterous home run from Angel Rodriguez giving them an early 2-0 lead. Two doubles in the second inning from Diego Aragon and Josh Gibson would help the Pilots jump out to a 5-0 lead. Jarvis would hit three doubles in the second and third innings to score four runs bring the game to 5-4. Three Pilot home runs from Aragon, Aquino (his third on the day), and Carter LaValley would extend the LSUS lead back to 12-5. Three more RBI doubles throughout the next two innings from Jayden Morgan, DJ Walker, and Jack Parks would give LSUS a 10 run lead and finally close out the slugfest in eight. In the game, LSUS would hit seven doubles, four home runs, and have 13 hits.

LSUS will return to action on Tuesday, April 23rd then they head to Fort Worth, TX to play Texas Wesleyan in a single game.
