Pilots Sweep Wildcats in RRAC Top 2 Showdown

Pineville, LA - The Pilots and the Wildcats resumed the series on Saturday after with the Pilots taking game one of the double header by a score of 9-6. Game two was a back and forth affair that resulted in the Pilots winning 9-5, extending their winning streak to nine games and improving their overall record to 32-3 and RRAC record to 22-2. The Pilots now have a five game lead in the conference with only two series left. 

Game one saw the Pilots jump out to an early 2-0 lead in the second inning with Trevor Burkhart single that would drive in Brandon Valdez and Jose Aquino. LSUS would continue the scoring in the fourth inning with another Valdez hit that would bring AJ Fritz to the plate. Anderson Acinger would ground into a double play, but Aquino would score for the second time on the batted ball giving the Pilots a 4-0 lead. 

The Louisiana Christian offense would capitalize in the fourth inning driving in two runs, while also scoring one in the fifth, and add two more in the sixth to take a 6-4 lead. LSUS would show deterimination in the final frame of the seven inning game as Cooper Huspen would score on a Ryan Davenport double, and then Aquino would hit a massive three run home giving LSUS back the lead and ultimately the win.

Jose Aquino - 1-2, 3 R, 3 RBI, HR, 1 SB

Brandon Valdez - 3-4, 1 R, 1 RBI, 2 SB

Trevor Burkhart - 2-3, 2 RBI, 1 SB

Game two was a slower start for the Pilots as they got down 5-0 early, but he fifth inning would start the comeback for LSUS. Christian Hobbs and Trevor Burkhart would find their way on base before Ryan Davenport would drop down a bunt that would get thrown into right field by the Wildcat pitcher allowing Burkhart to score. Vantrel Reed would follow that up with a single that would score Hobbs and Davenport tying the game at 5. LSUS would score four more in the sixth on a Angel Rodriguez two-run homer, Reed single, AJ Fritz walk that would score Davenport, and a Jose Sallorin single that would score both Reed and Josh Gibson giving the Pilots a 9-5 lead.
