Pilots Run-Rule Wildcats in Game One
Pineville, La. - In a highly anticipated match-up between the top two teams in the Red River Athletic Conference, it was the Pilots who made a statement in game one. LSUS came out hot, scoring often and early while ultimately run-rulling the Louisiana Christian Wildcats by a score of 13-0. The win moves the Pilots to 30-3 overall and 20-2 in RRAC play.
In the second inning, LSUS would get on the board when AJ Fritz would score on a wild pitch. An Anderson Acinger single would score Brandon Valdez and Jose Sallorin extending the lead to 3-0. Ryan Davenport would then double to right cernter and score Acinger extending the lead. The Pilots would finish their scoring in the second inning with a Jayden Morgan single that would score Davenport giving the Pilots a comanding 5-0 lead.
The fifth inning would resemble the second with Sallorin bringing Fritz to the plate. Valdez would then single through the left side scoring Trevor Burkhart and advancing Sallorin to third. Acinger would ground out to second base, but would score Sallorin on the play, bringing Diego Aragon to the plate with a runner on. A massive home-run to right field would add two more runs for the Pilots putting the run-rule in place with a 10-0 lead and only two innings left to extend the game.
Fritz would score for the third time in the sixth inning, and the Pilots would score two more in the seventh putting the game out of reach, ending the night for the Wildcats.
Isaac Rohde was once again dominate on the mound for the Pilots. Rohde would pitch a complete game shutout allowing just five hits and striking out 11 batters while also bringing his season total to 88 strikeouts. Rohde is 8-1 on the season.
LSUS was flaming hot at the plate going 16-36 driving in 11 runs. Fritz would go 4-4 from the plate with a double, three singles, and a walk while also scoring three times. Sallorin would continue his hot streak going 2-3 with a walk while driving in two runs. Valdez also had a great night for the Pilots going 3-4 with a double, 2 runs, and an RBI.
LSUS and LCU will continue the series tomorrow with a double header starting at noon in Pineville, LA.
