Pilots Open Conference with 9-0 Win Over Huston Tillotson
Austin, Texas—In a dominating Friday night baseball matchup, the LSU Shreveport Pilots showcased their prowess on the field with a resounding 9-0 victory over the Huston-Tillotson Rams. With the win the Pilots open conference at 1-0 and improve to 9-1 on the season.
The game started with both teams remaining scoreless through the first inning. However, in the top of the second inning, the Pilots broke the deadlock as JT Singletary brought home Angel Rodriguez, giving the Pilots a 1-0 lead. The Pilots continued to assert their dominance, adding two more runs in the top of the third inning. A combination of a double, a walk, a stolen base, and a throwing error allowed Vantrel Reed to score, followed by Jose Aquino bringing AJ Fritz across the plate, extending the Pilots' lead to 3-0.
The Pilots maintained their offensive momentum, adding another run in the top of the fourth inning, two runs in the top of the fifth inning, and their final three runs in the top of the eighth inning.
On the defensive side, Isaac Rohde delivered a stellar performance on the mound for the Pilots. Rohde pitched eight innings, facing 26 batters, and impressively collecting 13 strikeouts. He allowed just two hits and no runs, effectively shutting down the Rams' offense.
At the plate, Angel Rodriguez led the charge for the Pilots, going a perfect three for three with two runs scored. Josh Gibson, Vantrel Reed, and JT Singletary also contributed with solid performances, each going two for four at the plate.
Overall, the Pilots' exceptional pitching, solid defense, and potent offense propelled them to a commanding victory, highlighting their dominance on the baseball diamond.
The Pilots will be back in action Saturday February 16th as they take on the Rans if Huston Tillotson once more in a Double Header series finale. First pitch is set for 12:00pm from Austin, Texas.
