Pilots Finish Cajun Collision at 4-0

Sterlington, Louisiana—In an impressive display of skill and determination, the LSU Shreveport Pilots notched two victories in a doubleheader against tough opponents, the University of Science & Arts Drovers and the St. Thomas University Bobcats, securing a perfect 2-0 day. With the wins the Pilots move to an overall record of 8-1 and finished their Cajun Collision run at 4-0.

In their first matchup against the Drovers, the Pilots wasted no time asserting their dominance, exploding for four runs in the opening inning. Vantrel Reed's two-run homer set the tone, followed by timely hits from AJ Fritz and Jose Aquino. The Pilots continued their offensive barrage in the third inning, with Fritz and Angel Rodriguez each launching home runs. Despite a brief rally from the Drovers putting up two runs in the fourth and second, the Pilots held on for a decisive win. Fritz led the offensive charge, going 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs, while Rodriguez made a significant impact with his bat. Draven Zeigler earned the win on the mound, striking out seven batters over 5.1 innings of work.

In the second game against the Bobcats, the Pilots once again jumped out to an early lead, with Josh Gibson's double setting the stage for AJ Fritz to bring him home. Though the Bobcats managed to tie the game briefly, the Pilots responded with a three-run outburst in the third inning, fueled by disciplined at-bats and timely hitting. Despite a resilient effort from the Bobcats, the Pilots held firm, securing the victory with strong pitching from Isaac Rohde and clutch hitting from Fritz and Rodriguez. With their stellar performances at the plate, Fritz and Rodriguez played pivotal roles in the Pilots' success, helping propel the team to a perfect 2-0 record on the day.

The Pilots will be back in action Friday February 16th as they take on the Rams of Huston-Tillotson in their first conference series. First pitch is set for 6:00pm from Austin, Texas .
