No. 2 Pilots End Conference Regular Season With a Series Sweep Over Huston Tillotson

Shreveport, Louisiana--- The Pilots closed out their regular season Sunday afternoon as they added two more wins, 10-3 and 10-0, over the Rams of Huston-Tillotson. With the wins the Pilots move to an overall record of 42-6 and a conference record of 27-3. The Pilots also continue to extend their nation leading win streak to 23 straight games.

The Pilots were the first to strike at the plate as the two teams sat scoreless through the first inning and a half. Vantrel Reed doubled in the bottom of the second to put a runner in scoring position before Christian Webb singled to bring him home. The Pilots didn't see another run score until the bottom of the fourth when Reed hit a sacrifice fly to score the pinch-running Cooper Huspen. The Rams came back in the top of the fifth however and added three runs of their own and ending the Pilots' shutout streak. The Pilots were unphased and resumed work at the dish. Two early singles in the bottom of the fifth put runners on for Ryan Major. Major nailed a triple to right center bringing in Zeke Maldonado and Trevor Burkhart. Aj Fritz followed up shortly after to bring Major in. Carlos Pineyro followed suit and used a single of his own to get on base. Reed came up next to bring in Fritz before Zyon Avery would eventually reach on a walk. Diego Aragon closed out the scoring for the Pilots as he doubled to right field scoring three more runs and giving the Pilots a 9-3 lead. Major scored the final run for the Pilots in the sixth as he snuck across on a wild pitch.

The Pilot pitching staff combined for eight strikeouts in game one as Ryan Isler opened on the mound. Isler tossed 2.1 innings for the Pilots snagging four strikeouts before Alex Gonzalez came out to close the inning and get a strikeout of his own. Sayer Diederich took over the following inning going an inning and a third grabbing two strikeouts. Bobby Vath stepped out to close the inning for Diederich before Gage Bihm ended the game with two innings and a strikeout.

The Pilots took to game two ready to roll but didn't find a run until the bottom of the third inning. Ryan Major busted the game wide open in the third as he sent a three-run shot over the left field fence bringing in Zeke Maldonado and Trevor Burkhart. The Pilots added five more runs in the fifth to give themselves an eight-run lead. LSUS ended the game in the seventh as Cooper Husper singled to bring Ryan Major home and applied the run rule as Kade Shannon hit a sacrifice fly to score AJ Fritz ending the game 10-0.

The Pilots' pitching staff was one again on fire as Thomas King pitched for inning for the Pilots ripping nine strikeouts. Draven Zeigler then followed up with two innings at work and allowing just one hit. Chase Guitreau ended the game on the mound taking down the Rams with two strikeouts and giving up no hits.

The Pilots will be back in action Thursday May 5th as they take on the eighth seeded Mustangs of the University of the Southwest in the opening day of the Red River Athletic Conference Baseball Championships. First pitch is set for 5:00pm CT from Sterlington Sports Complex in Sterlington, Louisiana.
