Pilots Take Conference Regular Season Championship with Series Win Over Texas College

Shreveport, Louisiana--- The Pilots took a decisive series victory Saturday afternoon as they completed the sweep of Texas College, 16-0 and 20-0, and were crowned RRAC Regular Season Champions as a result. With the win the Pilots move to an overall record of 37-6 and a conference record of 21-3.
The Pilots went to work early in Game one of the day as they put two runs on the board in the first. They added four more runs in the second, three more runs in the third, five runs in the fourth, and single runs in the fifth and sixth.
Anderson Acinger led for the Pilots at the plate as he went 2-for-2 with two runs and three RBI's. Zeke Maldonado went 2-for-2 as well snagging a run along the way. The Pilots utilized their depth on the bench to rack up runs as four Pilots went 1-for-2 and as a whole compiled 12 hits and nine walks.
The Pilot pitching staff pitched the combined seven innings grabbing 10 strike outs. Draven Zeigler got the start throwing three full innings and ripping seven strikeouts. Garrett Bonnett and Blaine Hardy finished the game with two and one strikeouts respectively and securing the shutout.
The Pilots continued their offensive ways in game two as they amassed an early six runs in the first inning. They added another three runs in the second, two runs in the third, a single run in the fourth, four runs in the fifth, a second three in the sixth, and one in the seventh. Vantrel Reed and Kade Shannon led at the plate for the second game as they each went 3-for-4. Reed collected three runs and three RBIs at the plate while Shannon had three runs and eight RBIs including a three run bomb over the left field fence.
The Pilots utilized their bullpen as they got many of their pitchers an inning a piece. Combined they threw seven innings grabbing eleven strike outs. Cameron Prayer led on the mound as he opened for the Pilots and struck three out the side. Ryan Isler and AJ Fritz followed with two strikeouts a piece while Trey Rugg, Thomas King, Chase Guitreau, and Alex Bookman all ripped one each.
With the two wins the Pilots not only clenched the series win, but collected the title of RRAC Regular Season Conference Champions for the second year in a row. This is the 18th consecutive year the Pilots have collected an automatic qualifier out of the 20 they have made overall. This is also the 17th championship the Pilots have collected in the last 20 years, whether it be conference regular season or conference tournament.
The Pilots will be back in action Friday April 28th as they take on the Rams of Huston-Tillotson. First pitch is set for 6:00pm CT from Pilot Field in Shreveport, Louisiana.
