Pilots Prevail in Back-and-Forth Battle Against Jarvis Christian, 80-70

SHREVEPORT, La. — The LSUS Pilots avenged their November 16 loss to the Jarvis Christian Bulldogs with a thrilling 80-70 victory on Tuesday night at The Dock. The win highlighted the Pilots' determination as they flipped the script after falling 76-73 in Hawkins, Texas, earlier in the season.

Taj Anderson was unstoppable, leading the Pilots with a game-high 28 points and four assists. Melvion Flanagan followed with 13 points and five assists, while Meikkel Murray contributed 11 points and six rebounds. Tyler Washington controlled the glass, pulling down a game-high 10 rebounds to anchor LSUS's effort in the paint.

The Pilots showcased their offensive efficiency, shooting 52 percent from the field, an impressive 63.6 percent from beyond the arc, and 65.6 percent from the free-throw line. LSUS outscored the Bulldogs 36-22 in the paint and capitalized on turnovers, turning them into 20 points compared to 14 for Jarvis Christian. The Pilots also dominated the fast break, scoring 23 points to the Bulldogs' 14.

LSUS surged to an early lead, going up by as many as 13 points in the first half. However, the Bulldogs battled back behind Caleb Thompson and George Nwogu, who both scored 13 points, with Nwogu adding nine rebounds. Jamari Robertson and Kenny White, Jr. also contributed 12 and 11 points, respectively. Despite their efforts, Jarvis Christian struggled from the free-throw line, hitting just 50 percent of their attempts, while shooting 40 percent from both the field and three-point range.

LSUS will be back in action at The Dock on Saturday, January 11, as they host Texas A&M University-Texarkana. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
