Lewiston, ID - The day would start with LSUS and LCSC finishing the final two and half innings from game one that was halted due to rain on Friday evening. The first six and a half innings would be dominated by the two starters, Issac Rohde and Drake George, but the restart today would see the Warriors score one in the bottom of the seventh and ultimately win the game, 1-0. LSUS would struggle to get anything going at the plate and finish the game with six hits, with no runs, leaving five on base.
AJ Fritz 2-4
Brandon Valdez 1-2
Isaac Rohde 6.0 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 6 K
Game two of the day, and the finale of the series would start much the same way the others had started with the Pilots scoring first. But also in similar fashion, the Warriors would strike back and keep the game close. It was clear to anyone watching that both teams were running out of pitching, and a series that had saw low scoring, suddenly turned into a slugfest. Things felt like they were swaying in LSUS's favor in the fourth and fifth innings after LSUS would load up the bases and take a 7-4 lead. However, the Warriors would find their stride with the Pilot's struggling bullpen. LC would tie it up in the sixth and push their lead to four. Runs in the seventh and eighth would extend it to 14-7. In a last ditch effort in the ninth inning, LSUS would find themselves with base runners forcing a pitching change from LC, their sixth. Unfortunately, LSUS would only plate one run and the game would end. The Pilots would leave 12 runners on base and throw eight different pitchers while allowing 14 free bases.
Josh Gibson 2-2, 2 H, 2 R, 2 RBI, 1 SB, 4 BB
Trevor Burkhart 3-4, 3 H, 3 R
AJ Fritz 1-3, 2 RBI
The Pilots were originally scheduled to play a make-up game with USAO on Tuesday, but that game has been canceled. LSUS will now turn their focus back to conference play as they will face Jarvis Christian in Hawkins, Texas on Friday evening. The Pilots currently have a five game lead in conference and need just one win to clinch at least a share of the conference championship.
