Women's Basketball Sets Program Steals Record and Dominates Jaguars

Shreveport, LA - The LSUS Women's Basketball team (22-3, 21-1) extended their winning streak with a commanding 91-65 victory over Texas A&M San Antonio on Tuesday evening. The Pilots dominated from start to finish, securing a 26-point win in front of their home crowd.

Erynn Williams led the charge for LSUS with an outstanding performance, tallying 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting, including 3 three-pointers. Selma Markisic also had a stellar game, contributing 21 points and 4 three-pointers to the team's offense. In addition, Helena Galunic added 10 points and 4 rebounds, while Alexis Brown chipped in 4 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists.

LSUS' offensive efficiency was on full display as the team shot 60.0% from the field (33-55) and 57.9% from beyond the arc (11-19). The Lady Pilots also had an impressive performance at the free-throw line, converting 60.9% (14-23) of their attempts.

Texas A&M San Antonio struggled with their shooting throughout the game, finishing with just 33.8% from the field (22-65) and 22.9% from three-point range (8-35). Leading the way for the Lady Jaguars was Natalia Trevino, who scored 15 points, including 3 three-pointers. Evelyn Lorenzo added 9 points, and Emily Carranco contributed 11 points in the losing effort.

LSUS' defense was also strong, forcing 20 turnovers from Texas A&M San Antonio while collecting 10 steals and 1 block. The 10 steals set a new single season program record of 378 steals that was previously held by the 2017-18 team. With several games to go in the season, this record will continue to grow.

With the win, LSU Shreveport remains firmly in control of the conference race with a 21-1 record in league play. The Lady Pilots will look to continue their winning ways as they head into their next matchup.

The Pilots will be back on the court in their next game against OLLU on Saturday at 1pm. This will also serve as Senior Day.
