
Pilots Fall to Xavier at The Dock, 87-80
Shreveport, La. – The Louisiana State University Shreveport (LSUS) Pilots fought hard but ultimately fell short against Xavier University of Louisiana (XULA) in an electrifying game on Monday night, with the Gold Rush claiming an 87-80 victory.
The Pilots were led by a standout performance from Taj Anderson, who poured in 29 points while adding five rebounds, two assists, and one steal. Melvion Flanagan followed with an impressive 22-point outing, complemented by three rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Davion Coleman matched Flanagan's scoring output with 22 points, also contributing five rebounds, three assists, and a steal. On the boards, Angel Smith was a force, pulling down a game-high 12 rebounds.
LSUS delivered a strong offensive performance, shooting 53.3 percent from the field, an impressive 52.9 percent from beyond the arc, and 69.7 percent from the free-throw line. Despite their efficient shooting, the Pilots were unable to contain a balanced attack from XULA.
Xavier was paced by Lance Williams, who led the Gold Rush with 23 points, six assists, and four rebounds. James Weathers chipped in 16 points, three rebounds, and two assists, while Omarion Bodrick added 14 points and four rebounds. Corey Dunning rounded out the effort with 11 points and eight rebounds. The Gold Rush shot 51.8 percent from the field, 50 percent from three-point range, and 65.7 percent from the free-throw line to secure the win.
The Pilots will look to bounce back when they hit the road to face Paul Quinn College in Dallas, Texas, on December 5. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
